Farewell My Son

Investment and financial planning group Tilney Bestinvest is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the new musical ‘Farewell My Son’ which premieres at Church Hill Theatre in Edinburgh on Wednesday 26th November.

The musical, which runs for three nights until Friday 28th November, is based on the moving story of the 16th Royal Scots during the First World War. The plot follows the fortunes of Sir George McCrae who, incensed by the criticism of footballers for being exempt from military action, raised his battalion at Tynecastle where several Hearts players signed up on the spot. Officially, the battalion was named 16th Royal Scots but became fondly known as ‘The Hearts Battalion’ and ‘McCrae’s Own.’

With a score and lyrics by Steve Potter, the show is being produced and co-directed by Andrew Gowland, Managing Director of the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, in conjunction with Potter's company Matchbox Musical Theatre.

As the sole sponsor for the musical, Tilney Bestinvest will host the production’s premiere at The Church Hill Theatre.
