Manager of discretionary portfolios for charities, corporates, individuals and families based, mainly, in the UK and so taxable mandates for private clients and their associated ISAs, pensions and trusts.

Experience

After three years in the Army, Philip started working in the city in 1986. Philip came to Evelyn in May 2016 as part of the Ingenious acquisition and has over 35 years’ experience in investment management. Philip began his career at Hill Samuel in Edinburgh working as a private client stockbroker before moving within Hill Samuel to London in 1990 and switching to discretionary investment management. Later he became a director of Hill Samuel’s Private Client and Charity division. In 1998, he joined Taylor Young Investment Management as a senior investment manager and became a director in 2003 and then moved to Ingenious in 2009.

Notable client work and achievements

Philip is an investment adviser to the Black Watch Association’s investment committee. He was a member of the National Lottery’s £50m Fair Share Fund investment committee for its 10 year life.

Professional qualifications and memberships

Philip has an MA (Hons) in Geography and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
