Experience
Justine is a qualified Solicitor and Chartered Tax Adviser and has over 25 years’ experience of working in VAT and IPT gained mainly in Big 4 accountancy firms.
Justine’s advisory work includes providing technically strong and commercially pragmatic advice on all types of VAT and IPT issues which arise for businesses in the financial services and real estate sectors – including advising on the VAT and IPT treatment which is applicable to transactions, VAT and IPT cost management, and VAT and IPT compliance requirements.
Justine’s Indirect Tax dispute resolution work involves leading Indirect Tax dispute resolution – both those arising between clients and HMRC, and those arising between clients and their customers or suppliers. Justine has acted as an authorised representative for clients at all levels of the Indirect Tax litigation process – including disputes which are ultimately heard by the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Achieving annual VAT and IPT savings of around £5m for a large insurtech client by identifying and documenting relevant contractual flows
Leading a VAT dispute for a large financial services client and achieving a very favourable settlement on behalf of the client
