Experience
Håkan is trilingual, having lived and worked in the Netherlands and in his native Sweden before relocating to the UK in 2015. Prior to joining BDO and later Evelyn Partners, Håkan held positions as in-house advisor for global corporations such as Diageo, GE Healthcare, Philips Medical Systems, Laird Technologies and Cisco Systems. From these roles, Håkan has first-hand working experience of the technology, healthcare and drinks industries. From his time with Diageo, he also has in-depth knowledge of the excise duties and movement of excise goods across borders. Overall, Håkan has 20+ years advisory experience in the field of international trade compliance.
Notable client work and achievements
Håkan joins Evelyn Parners with a remit to build a Customs & Excise team. The new service offering in the firm’s professional services business will be fully aligned with the firm's other tax advisory services. Håkan's operational background has been purposeful in his role as customs, excise and international trade advisor, especially in matters of operational efficiency and how to effectively remove/pre-empt barriers in global supply chains. Having worked in industry, he intuitively understands the complex reality which international businesses must navigate.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Håkan holds a Master's degree in Strategic Management from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a BSc Economics degree from Växjö University, Sweden. As part of these degrees, he studied International Relations and International Trade Law. Håkan is also a member of the ICAEW Duties Committee.
