So, what must a shrewd CFO do to protect against unpredictability? We decided to bring an experienced panel together to share their insight, knowledge, and real-life experiences, looking at a suggested set of ‘rules’ to follow. Maeve Hurley - an experienced Finance and Operations Executive with a history in the tech sector, SaaS businesses, Enterprise Software, E-commerce. Most recently CFO of VC backed Glofox, CRM platform for gyms which has sold to a US fitness tech solutions business;
Frank Bandura - 30 years of experience as CFO / FD in the restaurant, hospitality, and leisure sectors, 17 of those at Carluccio’s as well as previous CFO at Gaucho. Currently at Gusto;
Derek Playford - most recently CFO at the Aspers Casino Group. Prior to this Derek held other gambling sector roles at Gala Coral as Finance Director in Retail Betting and Bingo. Elsewhere, Derek has also helped drive value growth in the rapidly expanding fintech sector.
Evelyn Partners’ Emily Berry, Associate Director in Tax will be sharing some of the latest from her client base of fast-growth, scale-up businesses.

Derek Playford
Derek was most recently CFO at the Aspers Casino Group, having steered the Group successfully through the uncertainty caused by funding, COVID, interest rates and cost inflation challenges over the recent three years. Prior to this Derek held other gambling sector roles at Gala Coral as Finance Director in both Retail Betting and Bingo. Prior to joining Aspers Derek held senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer roles in financial services businesses helping drive value from the rapidly expanding fintech sector. Derek has an MBA and is a Chartered Management Accountant.
