Smith & Williamson advises Beddlestead Limited, a wedding venue provider, on investment from Albion Capital

Beddlestead Ltd is a joint venture between Albion Capital and Artemis Venue Services Limited (“AVS”). AVS is one of the market leaders in the UK wedding venue industry, providing services ranging from sales and marketing services through to event management and catering.
Smith & Williamson worked with the directors of AVS to conduct a search for a strategic partner to support the roll out of venue development. They looked for a long term partner with expertise in the developing and building of leisure assets and an understanding of the challenges of a start-up site. Albion Ventures shared the directors’ vision and were keen to support AVS.

Brian Livingston, Head of M&A for Smith & Williamson, led the transaction assisted by Stuart Goodman. Smith & Williamson assisted AVS during the fundraising process with the investment going into a separate special purpose vehicle.

Angus Hastie, Chief Executive of AVS said “Smith & Williamson understand our businesses model and provided hands-on support and expertise to guide us through a process that both protects the existing business and provides funding for growth. Brian and the team were a pleasure to work with and their relationships across the private equity and venture capital community were crucial in finding a partner with the right fit for AVS”.
Brian Livingston Head of M&A for Smith & Williamson stated “AVS had a vision to scale up the business and develop it to a new level. As with many SMEs there is always the challenge of balancing risk to the existing business with that desire to grow. We were glad to be able to provide a solution that facilitated both that growth and ensured the existing investment was protected. We look forward to a long-term relationship with AVS as they grow and develop the business.”
