Dr Tim Hames
Dr Tim Hames started his career as an academic. He was a Lecturer in Politics at Oxford University from 1989-1996 specialising in American and British Government. He then moved to The Times where he became the chief editorial writer, a weekly columnist and regularly edited the newspaper as a whole. In 2009 he joined the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) as Head of Communications and Public Affairs and served as Director General of that organisation from 2013-2019. He is now the co-author (with Dame Kate Bingham) of the forthcoming book The Long Shot: The inside story of the race to vaccinate Britain (to be published in October 2022), a consultant and senior adviser and the writer-in-residence with Equity FD.
